How it works (at a glance)
- Open:
Add → Semantic Scholar. - Search: by title, author, DOI, arXiv ID, or keywords.
- Select: one or many results; preview abstracts and fields.
- Import:
- Metadata only, or
- Metadata + PDF (when S2 provides an open-access link).
- Post-import: Clevia runs processing/OCR and indexing → items become Ready for search, chat, and citations.
Not all results include downloadable PDFs. When no PDF is available, you’ll still get complete metadata and identifiers
Step-by-step
1
Open the S2 search
In the Library, click Add → Semantic Scholar to open the S2 Search dialog
2
Find the right paper
- Search by exact title or paste a DOI / arXiv ID for higher precision
- Use
author:last-nameplus a keyword from the title to disambiguate
3
Select results
- Tick the checkbox next to each paper you want
- Click a row to preview details before importing
4
Choose import options
- Import metadata only: creates a reference with identifiers and fields
- Import metadata + PDF: attaches the PDF from S2’s open-access link (when provided)
5
Finish
Click Import. Watch Processing/OCR badges; items flip to Ready when indexed
- Prefer DOI when known (fastest and most accurate).
- For arXiv preprints, paste the arXiv ID; you can later replace with the published DOI.
- Add a year or venue term (e.g., “NeurIPS 2017”) to narrow results.
Troubleshooting
I can’t find a known paper
I can’t find a known paper
- Paste its DOI directly, or try the publisher title
- Check spelling/diacritics; add venue/year to the query
