# Uploads

> Bring your sources into Clevia quickly - single files, whole folders, or bulk drops so you can start asking Clevia questions and citing with confidence.

### Upload menu

You can upload files by clicking the + icon at the top of the left sidebar.

### Drag and drop

* Drop into the main library area to upload to the project root
* Drop into a folder row (left sidebar) to upload directly into that folder
* Drop onto a folder table (center panel) to add to that folder's contents

### Add from Semantic Scholar

If you use Semantic Scholar:

1. Click Add references → Semantic Scholar.
2. Search by title/author/DOI.
3. Select results → Add to import metadata and, where available, the PDF.

### What happens during import

* Validation: File type, size, and basic checks
* Processing: Text extraction, preview generation, and metadata detection
* Indexing: Content is indexed for search and AI grounding
* Ready state: Items become available for chat and citations once processing completes
